A series of experimental double piano concertos performed by Kate Halsall & Fumiko Miyachi

Miniaturised Concertos' is a series of experimental double piano concertos, exploring the roles of the traditional double piano concerto, working with electroacoustics and film, chamber ensemble, extended techniques and duo, to create large scale effects from small forces. Commissions from Philip Cashian, Colin Riley, Katharine Norman, Naomi Pinnock, Andrew Poppy and electronics by technologist-composers, Peiman Khosravi and James Waterworth.


Some of the work has been developed with young musicians from South West Music School in Residencies at Dartington and with student led Chimera Ensemble at York University. The project began with a Residency at The Banff Centre in Canada in October 2012 and is supported by Arts Council England, Britten Pears Foundation, RVW Trust and South West Music School. The album Miniaturised Concertos | Maché will be released on Metier in Spring 2015.
